About the event

Glass Half Full and Glassroots have been building islands made of recycled glass sand to restore the area of Bayou Bienvenue next to the Glass Half Full Recycling Facility and build new land in Southeast Louisiana! We will be staking out the perimeter containment for two new islands that are being created. The work involves being physically in the marsh and is best for people that are comfortable with physical labor and getting a bit dirty. Some roles are standing in the water (waders provided) while some roles entail removing invasive plant species and moving materials on land adjacent to the marsh.

Attire

• Closed toed shoes and pants are required
• Sunhat and a breathable/moisture wicking shirt are encouraged
• Please bring a reusable water bottle!

Additional information

The restoration/recycling site does not have a physical address, 4700 Paris Rd. is the Sheriff’s Office, drive past the Sheriff’s office and take the first right on Treasure St. Continue to the Glass Half Full recycling facility at the end of Treasure St.

This is an active recycling facility, so for your safety, please wait in the parking area and check in with a staff member before proceeding further into the site.
