Thibodaux, LA — Founded in 1947, Danos is a family-owned enterprise serving the energy industry. The company is a trusted partner for coastal restoration, pipeline protection and artificial reef construction projects. In addition to fabrication of bioengineered modules, Danos offers a full range of supportive services including project management and field workforce. Danos and Natrx have partnered since 2019. Working together, the two companies offer advanced technology solutions paired with real-world implementation and expertise.
Danos is proud to play a hands-on role in protecting and preserving Louisiana’s working coast through its Coastal Restoration Service Line. One of the company’s most meaningful projects to date is Duncan’s Reef—an artificial reef deployed in February 2025 in the waters south of Cocodrie at Bodwin Point, in partnership with CCA Louisiana (through its REEF Louisiana program), Woodside Energy, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Natrx, Delta Coast Consultants, and White Water Contractors.
The reef honors the life and legacy of Duncan Prentice, a Danos team member, avid angler, and contributor to Natrx’s ExoForm technology (nicknamed “Cajun Coral” in Louisiana) who passed away in 2023. Duncan’s Reef, the largest to date under the REEF Louisiana program, is comprised of 850 Cajun Coral reef modules- high-performance resilience structures manufactured using Natrx’s patented Dry Forming technology. The project enhances biodiversity, supports marine life, and strengthens the local economy through improved recreational fishing. In addition to honoring a valued team member, the reef reflects Danos’ enduring commitment to advancing coastal restoration and safeguarding Louisiana’s marine environment for future generations.
Through projects like Duncan’s Reef, Natrx is proud to work alongside Danos, bringing nature-based, high-performance technology to Louisiana’s coastal communities. Natrx applies proprietary solutions that address coastal resilience, habitat restoration, and asset protection challenges, with a focus on delivering measurable, real-world results. From advanced reef modules to shoreline stabilization technologies, Natrx solutions are designed to perform under the demanding conditions of the Gulf Coast while supporting biodiversity and local economies.
As Danos and Natrx continue to address coastal challenges, the companies seek partnerships with engineering firms committed to developing new methods to combat coastal erosion and resilience issues, contractors dedicated to ecological solutions, non-profits and NGOs focused on coastal restoration, and government agencies advancing innovative approaches to coastal protection. Together, Danos and Natrx are demonstrating what smarter, ecologically intelligent coastal resilience can look like—protecting Louisiana’s coast today while building a stronger foundation for tomorrow.
