We invite you to join us for a day filled with bayou-fun! In partnership with Friends of Bayou Lafouche’s St. Patrick’s Day on the Bayou, we’re bringing back our Annual Paddle Bayou Lafourche trip — a day spent paddling the bayou and taking in the natural beauty of one of our estuary’s most important waterways. As paddlers reach the end of their journey in Downtown Thibodaux, they’ll be welcomed by another essential part of the estuary — our one-of-a-kind culture. With food and drinks, live music, kids activities, cardboard bayou races, and much more, you’ll get a day packed with family-friendly activities served Southern Louisiana style!
These events are brought to you by BTNEP, FOBL, and Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of the bayou, its beauty, its health, and the issues it currently faces. It is our shared goal to secure funding for future projects to benefit the bayou and all who depend upon it. Paddlers will have the option of choosing either a 13.7 or 8.7-mile long paddle with a registration fee of $40 for adults, and $20 for children 12 years of age or younger. The paddler’s registration fee will also cover their entry into St. Patrick’s Day on the Bayou (a $15 value) and a free t-shirt to commemorate the day. Please note that all paddlers will need to provide their own kayak/canoe/pirogue/etc., and must have their own life vest. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This event was originally announced for Saturday, March 18, 2023 on social media and on tidal calendars. Due to a conflict, the event will now be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Say tuned for more information
